Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Sunday Tally (“Sunday Tally,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Civil Entrepreneur LLC, provides ministry analytics software for churches. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We built Sunday Tally for churches, and our approach is simple: your data is yours, we protect it, and we never sell it.

By creating an account or using Sunday Tally, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information— the name, email address, and church name you provide when you register, plus the display name and role of each team member you invite.
  • Ministry data— the information you enter to run the service, such as attendance counts, volunteer records, giving totals, service schedules, and any custom metrics you choose to track. This data consists of aggregate counts and totals; Sunday Tally is not designed to store individual congregant names or contact details.
  • Payment information— when you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your billing details and card information directly. We do not receive or store your full card number; we retain only a customer reference, your plan, and billing status.
  • AI chat messages— if you use the Tally AI assistant on our public website, we store the messages you send so we can understand what churches are looking for and improve Sunday Tally. This website chat does not require your name or email.
  • Technical and usage data— standard information such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, and referral information (including marketing-attribution parameters), collected automatically to operate, secure, and improve the service.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide, maintain, and improve the Sunday Tally service, including your dashboards and reports;
  • process subscriptions and payments and send transactional messages (invites, receipts, and account or billing notices);
  • provide optional AI features you choose to use;
  • secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations; and
  • understand how the service is used so we can make it better.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your ministry data for advertising.

Service providers we share data with

To operate Sunday Tally, we rely on trusted third-party service providers (sometimes called “subprocessors”) that process data on our behalf and under our instructions. They are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes. These currently include:

  • Supabase (database and authentication, hosted on Amazon Web Services) — stores your account and ministry data;
  • Stripe — processes subscriptions and payments;
  • Anthropic — powers the AI features (see below);
  • Resend — delivers transactional email;
  • Vercel — hosts the application and provides privacy-friendly, cookieless usage analytics;
  • Google — provides optional “Sign in with Google” authentication, if you choose to use it.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we will require the recipient to honor this Privacy Policy.

AI features

Some features — such as the AI analytics chat and the AI dashboard builder — send the relevant church data to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate your results. Your data is used to produce your output and is not used by us or our provider to train foundation models. AI-generated results can contain errors; you are responsible for reviewing them before relying on them.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for a limited set of purposes: to keep you signed in (session cookies), and to remember how you first arrived at our site for marketing attribution (a first-touch cookie). We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand aggregate site usage. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored using Supabase (PostgreSQL) on Amazon Web Services infrastructure, encrypted in transit and at rest. We apply access controls and other safeguards designed to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and any regulators as required by applicable law.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If your subscription lapses, your church's data is retained during a grace period so you can reactivate without losing anything, and is then scheduled for deletion. You may request earlier deletion at any time. We may retain limited records (such as billing history) where required for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.

Children's privacy

Sunday Tally is intended for use by church staff and volunteers who are adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ministry data such as children's ministry attendance is recorded as aggregate counts, not as personal information about individual children.

Your rights and choices

You can access and update your account information within the app. On request, we will provide a full export of your church's data, correct inaccurate information, or delete your account and associated data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

International users

Sunday Tally is operated in the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States and other countries. If you access the service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or within the app. Your continued use of Sunday Tally after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
